After months and years of attempt, NASA was finally able to bet back in touch with the probe on Sunday after the Deep Space Network locked onto the satellite’s signal.

The Deep Space Network have been used by the mission controllers to try to get in touch with STEREO-B.

STEREO-B and its sibling, STEREO A, keeps an eye on the sun, simultaneously, to give scientists a view of the entire star and its unique orbits in detail.

While STEREO A is still working, STEREO-B lost its connection with its home planet in October of 2014.

Both STEREO-A and B are equipped with a “command loss timer” that forces the crafts to reboot if it loses contact with Earth for more than 72 hours according to Mashable.

NASA was testing out the said timer in anticipation of the communications blackout, when it lost touch with STEREO-B.
