The moment a flight attendant’s magic touch soothed to sleep an incessantly crying toddler has gone viral.
The Hawaiin Airlines flight attendant offered her help after a mother of three had struggled to calm her 3-year-old son for over half an hour on a late-night flight.
A short video of the moment was shared to social media by Rachel Yuen, another passenger on the flight from Honolulu to Los Angeles on Monday, Feb. 12.
“A single mom of three was doing her best to calm her youngest one down,” wrote Yuen in her post. “Her oldest couldn’t have been more than 5 years old. I watched her turn into an acrobat, trying to soothe her crying toddler, tossing and turning. ”
For about 45 minutes, the desperate mom tried in vain, meanwhile enduring “stink eye” from a couple in front, said Yuen as she watched, frustrated and irritated.
“I watched the woman in front turn around and snicker something at her children and all I could think of was ‘you wait until this seatbelt sign comes off…'”
But just before Yuen was about to get out of her seat and head over, a flight attended stepped in, offering to take the toddler.
“The mother seemed reluctant, embarrassed and at her wits end. She had tried for at least 45 minutes and nothing worked.”
“The toddler reached out and the flight attendant rocked him… Up and down the aisle until he finally gave in. This is true Aloha spirit.”
Yeun’s clip had earned over 744,000 views within a week of being posted to Facebook.
“Hawaiian Airlines you should be proud of the people you hire who go beyond the call of duty and remind the world that kindness isn’t all that uncommon,” she wrote.
“You gave a mother a moment to breathe and you have no idea how priceless this was for everyone around to see. Mahalo Nui!”
