The advent of Holy Week did not prevent President Rodrigo Duterte from continuing his tirades against the Catholic Church as he slammed religious leaders for taking a stand against his controversial war on illegal drugs.
“Alam mo p***** i** may giyera. I have declared war. ’Pag hindi, matalo ang bayan ko. Kayong mga pari wala man kayong gawin. Mag-ano kayo forgiveness, forgiveness. Madala ba ’yan ng forgiveness?” Duterte said in a speech in this city Tuesday.
The President also made fun of the Catholic sacrament of confession, saying that the number of sins he commits daily would require him to confess every day.
“Kaya ako hindi nagsisimba. Kasi ’pag magsimba ako, ‘Forgive me, father, for I have killed last night three.” Balik na naman ako kinabukasan, ‘Father, forgive me because I have killed 10 drug, drug lords.’ Pabalik-balik ako, bakit pa ako magpunta doon? Useless,” he said.
The President also questioned the concept of heaven and hell. He said in jest that he would like to prefer going to hell because it would be full of beautiful and willing women.
“Anong heaven and hell? Saan man ilagay? Bakit ako na ang Diyos? Diyos na ako. Bakit ako maggawa ng masamang tao at ilagay ko diyan sa impiyerno?” Duterte said.
“Saan ang pinakamagandang babae dito sa Cagayan? Sa langit? Saan ’yung magaganda diyan sa mga bar, sa karaoke, ’yung magagandang katawan, magandang mukha, nasaan kaya sila? Nasa impiyerno.”
“Anong gawain mo sa langit? Akbayan mo sila? Amoy-amoyin mo? P**** i**** San Pedro na ’yan,” Duterte continued.
“Sige ’yan magtingin, kaya nakaganun. Ang u*** may bisyo rin. Nagdala pa ng manok wala naman sabong.”
Besides the concept of heaven and hell, the President questioned many Catholic beliefs, including the concept of Original Sin and the creation story from the Bible. (ABS CBN)
