MANILA – The campaign materials of several local candidates had been posted outside the designated areas on Black Saturday, the 2nd day of the campaign period for the local elections.
The period of 45-day local campaign officially began on Good Friday, but campaigning on this Holiday is prohibited under election laws, as a result local bets can only take part in political activities beginning Saturday.
In Quezon City, however, several campaign materials were plastered on electric posts, waiting sheds and public utility vehicles.
Posters with the greetings of candidates for various occasions prior to the campaign period also littered public places.
Under the regulations of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), campaign materials may be displayed only at common poster areas, including barangay centers, markets and town plazas.
