New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Kell has announced on Twitter Monday (Aug 1) that his country is reopening its borders to international travelers, including Filipinos who wish to visit their country.
Kell added that they’re also opening visa applications from the Philippines and other countries.
“Pleased that today, New Zealand has officially reopened its borders at ngayon ay tumatanggap na ng visa applications mula sa Pilipinas at ibang bansa (and now accepting visa applications from the Philippines and other countries),” Kell Said.
“We look forward to welcoming you and excited kaming muling ibahagi ang ganda ng NZ! (we are excited to share the beauty of New Zealand),” he added.
On July 31, New Zealand has for the first time since the COVID crisis began in March 2020 fully reopened its doors to foreign visitors, as it has some of the strictest border control during the height of the pandemic to control the spread of the infection, which was generally manageable there.
Filipinos who want to visit the country must first meet the COVID-19 vaccination requirements through updated vaccination certificates or other forms confirming that you have completed the required jab.
“All travellers are strongly encouraged to be up-to-date with vaccinations before travelling. You need a digital vaccine certificate or another form of electronic or paper document from a government health authority or approval authority confirming you have had a full COVID-19 vaccine course,” said the New Zealand Embassy in the Philippines.
Pre-departure COVID tests for healthy travelers will no longer be required, but for those who are experiencing COVID symptoms before their flight, a proof must be submitted, including a medical certificate issued by a health practitioner saying that you don’t have COVID-19, or proof of a negative COVID test.
A health declaration form must also be completed before traveling, the embassy said.
